For the Love of Horses
There’s nothing quite like horse riding.
That rhythmic galloping reverberating through your entire body, the wind caressing your face. It’s a sacred moment of peace and quiet away from a world that can be overwhelming at times.
The synchronisation between you and your horse is unlike any relationship; it’s a beautiful friendship where love is expressed through body language, soothing words and trust.
We know and cherish that feeling, which is why it’s so important to think about the safety of both yourself and your horse. As a horse rider, It’s vital to find the right browband that is comfortable for your horse and applies minimal pressure. Also, browbands are easy and fun to customise.
After all, your horse is a beautiful creature, so why not create a little something special?

The History of Browbands UK
Hi, I’m Averil Hewitt, the current owner of Browbands UK, which is based in Newbury, Berkshire.
Browbands UK was originally opened by Gemma Hale from South Wales in 2013. After providing many years of fabulous service, Gemma decided to pursue other growing business interests and sold the business to her friend, Sara Wilson, who runs a farm with her husband.
As time went by, it became clear to her that because of the demands of her farm, she was unable to devote time to the business. That’s when I came into the picture and purchased the business from her in March 2020.
Of course, as many of you know, this was around the time when the Covid-19 pandemic took hold and put the whole world in lockdown.
Even though it created many problems for our business – having caused the manufacturing to cease and therefore our sales to drop – I kept my faith in this business and was more determined than ever to make it work. Thankfully this year, we have turned a new leaf and creating a new look for Browbands UK.
If you are still reading this, I am grateful for you and hope you continue to show your love and support for Browbands UK. Thank you for sticking by us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate for all things equestrian.
I got my first horse, Chance, at the age of 12. We had participated in a whole range of equestrian events, from show jumping to three-day events. From then on, I got a part-time job in a racing yard, where I worked weekends and evenings.
After leaving school, I worked full-time for Freddy Welch International Show jumping team. Then, I subsequently moved to a racing yard in Kintbury, Berkshire, where I worked for John and Jackie Porter.
When I left the role, my path changed and I became a dental nurse instead – this was around the time I lost touch with the equestrian world. But then my daughter, Elinor, grew interested and eventually got her own pony at the age of five. Thanks to my daughter, I was able to relive my love for horses.
Now, Elinor and I are at the stables 7 days a week, looking after her latest horse, Badger. Elinor has also been focused on dressage (and is a massive fan of Charlotte Dujardin).
When Browbands UK was in need of new ownership, I took the step and bought the business. It felt like the perfect investment to make, considering that I have the knowledge and expertise of everything equestrian and the equipment that was needed. I have invested in supplying high quality browbands, so that every horse rider has the best fits for their horses.
